 Dear colleagues and friends,

With the upcomming eleventh SPH, we are opening the second decade of meetings on livers and lives. Pausing over such an occasion, the doubt arises: Are we right to claim the time and effort of the best for the audience of few and gratitude so hard to convey? Will the unus mundus really take care of the rest? But then it comes to the meaning of it all and, suddenly we know: we have to ask, we have to ask the best, and we have to ask them here – at the forum actus. Because, with the largely unnoticed highest prevalence in the world, cirrhosis is claiming our future.

As the toll is intermediated via the proxy ACLF, we aim to leverage the generously made accessible mental plane of those from the SPH club who have had their hands on. In endeavours like EF CLIF, CANONIC, BAVENO, PREDICT, MICROBPREDICT, and GALAXY. And to try to translate the knowledge to our real life: to the liver critical care of the region in transition to whoknows, where implementing guidelines takes more than mere Ctrl+V.

Considering the minimal time necessary for preparation vis a vis actual and predicted SARS-Cov-2 and Ukraine-conflict dynamics, we opted for a hybrid format: Some of you will be hopefully able to attend in person, some will join from home. However, it is our hope that the decade-old SPH club will have received the ever-rarer gift of a critical mass human energy to make our world a better place.

Thank you for your ever attending SPH.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Banska Stiavnica.

Your sincerely
